ACOUSTIC TEST FACILITIES >> ANECHOIC ROOMS>>
ABSORPTION RESONANCE SYSTEM
................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Whenever lack of space does not allow the appliance
of an absorbing wedge type system or exposure to dirt and contact damage
may occur, the PK combined Absorption-Resonance System ( CAR System)
offers a suitable solution. The PK CAR system offers huge benefits in
terms of space. With a lining depth usually not exceeding 300mm, lower
cut-off frequencies even below 50 Hz within maximum allowable deviations
according to ISO 3745 can be achieved. Depending on the room size even
measurements down to 30 Hz within the acoustic nearfield can be
conducted.
The structure consists of a carefully engineered resonator inserted in
porous absorbing material (technical foam or mineral fibre material,
fire class B1 and A2 respectively). Absorption at low frequencies is
done by the resonator whereas the porous material bears the medium and
high frequency range. A wideband tuning of the resonator enables an
acoustical performance which is evenly distributed over the whole room.
The system is integrated into a robust perforated sheet metal casing
which protects the absorber and can be painted or powder-coated
according to customer specification.
Precise adaptation of the single components allows the creation of
anechoic or hemi-anechoic test rooms in conformance with ISO 3745;
however, due to the selective effectiveness of the resonator and the low
lining depth of the porous material, the absorption efficiency is not
evenly distributed over the entire frequency range. In case that the
room is to be used for measurements of sources that predominantly
radiate pure tones, the appliance of the CAR system might not be
suitable and a wedge or cube system should be chosen. For technical
advice about the appropriate acoustic room treatment, please contact the
engineers of Kapolnek GmbH. |
